Find your ring size
UK letter sizes can differ by up to a half size between jewelers. Use this as a close guide, then confirm with your jeweler.
How to measure your finger
- Cut a thin strip of paper or a piece of non-stretchy string.
- Wrap it around the base of the finger you are sizing, snug but not tight.
- Mark where the end meets the strip, then lay it flat and measure the length with a ruler in millimeters.
- Enter that number above as the finger circumference.
Already own a ring that fits? Measure straight across the inside of the ring, from one inner edge to the other, and use the inner diameter option instead.
Tips for an accurate ring size
- Measure later in the day. Fingers are smallest in the morning and in the cold, and larger in the heat or after a long day.
- If your knuckle is wider than the base of your finger, choose a size that slides over the knuckle with a little resistance.
- Wide bands of 6 mm or more feel tighter, so size up by about a quarter to half a size.
- Measure three times on different days and use the average.
Frequently asked questions
What is a US size 7 ring in UK and EU sizes?
A US 7 has an inner diameter of about 17.3 mm and a circumference of about 54.4 mm. That is roughly a UK N and an EU size 54.
Should I size up for a wide band?
Yes. A wide band covers more of the finger and fits more snugly, so most jewelers suggest going up a quarter to half a size for bands 6 mm or wider.
How do I measure my ring size with a ring I already own?
Measure the inside diameter of the ring in millimeters, from one inner edge to the opposite inner edge, and choose the ring inner diameter option above.
Can my ring size change?
Yes. Temperature, weight changes, pregnancy, and arthritis can all change your finger size, so it is worth re-measuring before buying a new ring.
