Enter your bust, waist, and hip measurements to find which of five common body shapes you are closest to: hourglass, pear, inverted triangle, rectangle, or apple. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

Calculate your body shape

How to take your measurements

Use a soft tape measure, stand relaxed, and keep the tape level and snug without squeezing. Measuring over thin clothing or underwear gives the most accurate numbers.

  • Bust: around the fullest part of your chest, with the tape straight across your back.
  • Waist: around the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above the belly button. If you do not have a clear narrowest point, measure halfway between your lowest rib and the top of your hip bone.
  • Hips: around the fullest part of your hips and seat, usually 7 to 9 inches (18 to 23 cm) below your waist.

How the calculator decides

It compares your bust to your hips, then compares your waist to the fuller of the two. If bust and hips are within about 5% of each other and your waist is at most 75% of them, you are an hourglass. Similar bust and hips with a less defined waist is a rectangle, or an apple when the waist is nearly as wide as the bust and hips. Wider hips than bust is a pear, and a wider bust than hips is an inverted triangle, or an apple when the waist is not defined.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is a body shape calculator?

It sorts your measurements into one of five common shapes using simple ratios. Real bodies sit on a spectrum between these shapes, so treat the result as a starting point for styling rather than a label.

Should I measure with or without a bra?

Wear the bra you wear most days, ideally an unlined or lightly lined one, so the bust measurement reflects how clothes will actually fit.

Can my body shape change over time?

Yes. Weight changes, muscle, and hormonal shifts such as menopause can change where your body carries weight. Re-measure every year or two, or whenever your clothes start fitting differently.

Do I have to dress for my body shape?

No. Shape-based tips are a way to get unstuck, not rules. Comfort and what you enjoy wearing matter more than any chart.
